What Are Essential  Oils?  oil sac

They are botanical extracts from aromatic plants that come from leaves, roots, seeds, bark and more. Plants have been used throughout history for medicinal purposes, beauty treatments, in food preparations and for aromatherapy. The oils are distilled from the plants these days and can be used for many purposes.

Each plant has different naturally occurring chemical constituents making it uniquepeppermint and also making the benefits we derive from that plant unique too! Purity is a big factor in the world of essential oils. To use them for medicinal purposes, it’s critical that the only the purest oils are obtained and used. I personally only use Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade(CPTG) oils for our health care needs, cooking and cleaning. So, as you navigate through this site, please keep that in mind and feel free to contact me with questions or to learn how you can get your own pure essential oils. Want to know more? You have choices…you can read books, blogs or attend a workshop at my house if you are local. Teaching face to face is the best. I share how they work, what they are and how you can use them in your home. If you are NOT local, let me know and I can send videos to watch to teach you remotely. I am passionate about the oils as they have been so life changing for our family and don’t want to leave anyone out! Contact me now to get started!

Using Essential Oils

There are three ways to use pure essential oils! I love choices and using pure oils gives you these three options. Aromatically, topically and internally. Let me explain:

Aromatically-

One great way to enjoy their benefits is placing the oils in a diffuser. This device will help to put the oil particles into the air so that they are inhaled and also change the aroma in the room. Aromatic benefits can also be derived from inhaling oils from the bottle as well.

Topically-

There are many places on the body that a PURE oil can be applied for benefits. Some suggestions are the arch of the foot, wrists, back of neck, spine and chest. For small children, the arch of the foot can be a great place to ensure that they do not touch the oils and accidentally get them in their eyes. People tend to like to apply the oils using roller bottles as seen below.

Internally-

Please note-this option is specifically used only for pure oils which means they are organic and have been tested multiple ways to detect impurities, metals, pesticides and more. There are very few brands available that are truly pure. In this industry, there is little regulation and bottles can be labeled pure with as little as 2% pure oil in the bottle. Those diluted oils do not need to be taken internally ever. Research the company you buy from. I have! With internal use, the oils would be taken orally under the tongue or the oils can be placed into a “veggie capsule”. A veggie capsule would swallowed with a glass of water.

Diluting-

Many people choose to dilute their oils for various reasons. This can help “stretch your dollar” further by allowing you to use just a couple drops of oil and cover a larger area of skin like your knees or back. The carrier oils also can help slow down absorption of the essential oils to allow them to work longer in your body. In addition, carrier oils can help flush an essential oil out of your eye if you accidentally get some in there. It will sting and the carriers oils quickly pull the essential oil out. You never would purposely put an essential oil in your eye, but it can happen by mistake. Remember, “oil and water don’t mix”! So, if you do get essential oils in your eye, water will intensify the sting, but a carrier oil will stop the issue immediately. Many people choose to use coconut oil as their carrier of choice. You can use the jarred type for topical application or the fractionated(liquid) option for your roller bottles(as seen above). Other carrier oils that are used are olive, grapeseed, almond and jojoba. There are a lot of great choices out there!
